Walk Dovedale 28/04/2019

Jack led a walk 28/04/2019 along Dovedale.

Jack wrote :- On what turned out to be a fairly bright day, 14 of us set out from Alsop en le Dale car park along the tops before dropping down into Milldale. After a coffee break we then walked down the prettiest section of Dovedale. Lunch was taken at Lovers Leap before continuing down to the stepping stones. Due to the high rainfall the day before, the river was in flood which meant the stepping stones were impassible, fortunately we did not need to cross. Most of the party climbed to the top of Thorpe Cloud for magnificent views down into the Dove Dale and further afield to the River Manifold and Ilam Youth Hostel.
After our descent, refreshments were in order and most of us slaked our thirst at the Old Dog in Thorpe. We then joined the Tissington Trail before dropping off into Tissington Village where we had an ice cream stop. We once again joined the Tissington trail for our route back to Alsop. A fairly leisurely walk of about nine and a half miles.
