At Hazel Grove Civic Hall 20:00hrs 27/03/2019. Geoff Barton (pen name) (formerly D.I. Geoff Platt of London Metropolitan Police) gave a talk with computer photo projector about Keiran Patrick Kelly the serial killer.

Walk Monyash 24/03/2019

Chris S. led a walk from Monyash Sunday 24/03/2019 5 or 6 or 9 miles.

Walk Route, Using White peak Explorer map OL24….START 10:30hrs. From village centre

SE. past, ducking pond, leave the Limestone way SSE at and along Derby Lane, after 2 miles (we find the Cube/Dice stone sculpture) then NNE. Cales Farm, Cales Dale, One Ash Grange Farm.

(AT THIS POINT 4 of our 5 MILE WALKERS WENT WNW ALONG THE LIMESTONE WAY BACK TO MONYASH).

The rest ENE. did careful  descent into Lathkill Dale!!!!

(AT THIS POINT 1 of our 6 MILE WALKERS WENT WNW ALONG LATHKILL DALE UNTIL AT THE ROAD TURNED LEFT INTO MONYASH).

The rest NNE. through 2 Haddon Grove Farms, Green Lane, Sheldon Village (The Cock and Pullet Pub was visited) E. then SW. back to Monyash.

In Monyash village the old church, the old smithy tea shop and The Bulls Head were visited.
25 members and 2 dogs enjoyed a clear sunny day marred slightly by a strong cold wind.

Colin and Helen hosted a pub night 20:30hrs 22/03/2019 at the Arden Arms Stockport.

At Hazel Grove Civic Hall 20:00hrs 20/03/2019, Frank Pollard gave a talk with video film projector
about the history of the Castleton Garland festival held mid week late May every year.

Walk 17/03/2019 Tideswell

In a change to the published program (due to same walk routes to SWOG walk on 24/02/2019) , Cary led a walk from Tideswell S. Millers Dale E. Litton Mill  S. then E. again following the contours above Water-Cum-Jolly Dale to join Monsall trail Up to Monsall Head for lunch, pub and café. Then down onto Monsall Viaduct again W. to Brushfield , High Dale , Priestcliffe N. to Nature reserve , Monsall trail, Millers Dale Station, Stepping stones across Monksdale, N. Limestone Way E. back to Tideswell. Some decided to have a curry on the way back. 10 members enjoyed very varied weather wind, sun, sleet, hail, snow, 11 miles.

At 20:30hrs 15/03/2019 Colin & Helen hosted a pub night at the Angel Inn at Stockport Market place. This used to be Seven Miles out , before that it was Chafes Solicitors, before that something else & 70 years ago it was sterangely THE ANGEL!!!!

Jane W. cancelled the walk (she was ill) others were reluctant to step in due to very bad weather forcast  i.e. ….rain, gales, snow, ice, hail, roads closed etc.
