Walk Buxworth and Sparrowpit 26/02/2017

Phil W. led a walk from Buxworth Canal Basin to Sparrowpit return. The published distance was 8 miles but many of us clocked over 11. A nice day to start but it deteriorated, very muddy, windy and slippy underfoot caused us to modify original route and use more lanes and minor roads on our return. 12 of us set out then after a mile we gained 2 more and 2 dogs then 2 turned back, 12 of us and 2 dogs did the whole day.

Talk Eyam Plague Doctor

At Hazel Grove Civic Hall 20:00 hrs. David Bell (a resident in Eyam) gave a talk with his own props and potions about how doctors and surgeons behaved in the 17th century, with references to the great plague and Samuel Pepys.

Harvey wrote:- Three of us braved the sleet to walk from Cannon Hall to the Sculpture Park following some of Barnsley Boundary walk. We had lunch in the park to admire the outdoor art in its wintery setting.
