Lantern Pike Hayfield Walk 10th February 2013
With the forecast of heavy snow we looked out of the bedroom window at 7.45am expecting a deep covering. Alas, with no sign of any snow, there was no chance of jumping back into bed for another couple of hours!!
We made our way to Hayfield thinking that nobody would turn out due to the bad forecast.
How wrong can you be? 10 of us turned out for the walk on a cold and snowy morning!
The walk went according to plan......this was our first walk that we had led!!
After a few climbs we arrived at Lantern Pike and we were nearly blown back down by the strong winds!!
In places the ground was very muddy and slippery.
In spite of the weather there were good views over to Kinder and Chinley Churn.
An enjoyable walk with excellent company. Nobody opted for the tearooms but we all enjoyed a well earned dink at The George Hotel.
