Switzerland week 20 to 27/06/2019

Weeks holiday in Switzerland. 20 to 27/06/2019.
Madeleine was kind enough to arrange a holiday in Interlaken for eleven of us from the group. We spent four nights in the very well equipped Youth Hostel before moving to a spacious house down the road in Matten. We paid a visit to Madeleine's apartment in Iselwald before taking walks in the area.. We also walked around Murren and Grindelwald. Another day was spent admiring the magnificent wild flowers at the alpine garden on Schynige Platte. On the final day we took the cable car up to the Niederhorn and walked back down. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday, if a little on the warm side. Many thanks to Madeleine for organising it.

Walk Marple Bridge 12/06/2019

Jack M. led a Wednesday evening walk from Marple Bridge, S. Farm, E. Linnet Clough, Mellor Church, W. return . Some went to the Norfolk Arms after the walk. 25 members  1 dog.

Walk Thorpe 09/06/2019

Chris S. led a walk from Thorpe  9 miles, Sunday 09/06/2019 

We parked in the old Thorpe Station free car park on the Tissington Trail. 

Walk Route: From the Tissington trail, W. to Thorpe village, at Peveril of the Peak hotel, NE. following the Limestone Way, through Tissington village, here we had 11ses and some visited the tea room. Then on to Parwich for lunch on the green, some visited the church and and the Sycamore pub.Then W. to meet the Tissington trail S. on the trail, at Tissington main car park some had ice cream then back to Thorpe Station Car Park. Then some visited the OLD DOG pub. 

12 members enjoyed a warm day until 15:30 when we endured a very heavy shower.

Meal Pasha 08/06/2019

Gill R. organised a Mediterranean meal 20:00hrs. Saturday night 08/06/2019 at Pasha's in Hazel Grove. 16 members enjoyed a very good meal.

Walk Styal 05/06/2019

19:30hrs 05/06/2019. Chris S. led a Wednesday evening walk from the Ship Inn at Styal.

Walk route: SW. into Styal Country Park then W. along the River Bollin (some big flights of steps with some worn out Careful!). At the Airport Hotel we crossed A538, Hooksbank wood, E. Morley, E. crossed A538 again, Bank House Farm, Quarry Bank Mill, return Styal, 4 miles.

25 members and 1 dog enjoyed a mild evening, some went to the Ship Inn after.

Walk Gradbach 02/06/2019

Adele B. led a walk from the Crag Inn at Wildboarclough, E. Three Shire Heads, S. then W. Gradbach cafe, E. Danebridge, Winkle microbrewery, N. Wild Boar Inn, E. Clough Brook back to the Crag Inn. 10 of the group had a meal in the Crag Inn. 15 members & 1 dog enjoyed a day when the weather was very very changeable.

Pub Night Stockport Beer Festival 31/05/2019

Several members help host a SWOG meet evening at Stockport Beer Festival which was held at the Cheadle stand at Stockport County AFC.
