Six of us decided to be cautious with the weather cautions and
strode out up Sir William hill above Eyam in a bracing wind, we soon dropped
down to Bretton Clough out of the wind in the shelter of the woods for coffee,
after Abney we glided down the delightful Abney Clough for lunch at Stoke Ford
by the Peak & Northern Footpaths Society sign from 1939. A steady
climb followed through the woods to Hazelford, by this time we hadn't seen a
soul-put off by the BBC forecast no doubt, the climb continued over Eyam Moor
where we experienced a nasty hale storm for five minutes, the only rain of
the day, tea and cakes rounded the day off back in Eyam by the bear
baiting ring.
