Walk Scafell Pike 14/06/2015

Chris H. led an ambitious day out with most of the group topping out on Scafell Pike . There were several new walkers who joined us via the meet up site.

Chris H. wrote-----
Seventeen people attended the walk, with a further two, Sue E. and her
sister making a shorter, but still impressive walk around the Langdale
fells.

The main party took a route, starting in Langdale, ascending via
Rosset Ghyll to Angle Tarn. From there we progressed to Esk Hause,
making a final push southwards along the Rocky ridge to Scafell Pike.

Fifteen people made it to the summit, all of whom had the privilege of
being the highest people above sea level in the whole of England, for
a few minutes at least.

A warm welcome to all the new members who played a fantastic part in
making the day successful and enjoyable.

Total distance 12 miles / 18 Kilometers
Total height gained 3850 feet, 1175 meters,

This pub is one of SWOGs favourites because of the choice of real well kept ales and that there is a microbrewery in the cellar.

Walk Hebden Bridge 07/06/2015

Mark C.led a walk around Hebden Bridge.

Cary wrote--
Mark eschews GPS and compass, and casually marched us off into the woods, up hill & down dale, pointing at the map at various points when we asked where we were.  According to the export testimony of a local, as we marched up toward his house, people didn't have a right to wander anywhere they bloody well liked & Mark was hopeless at reading a map. But the air was clear, the sun shone, the meadows colourful with spring flowers & we all got back to the starting point which, after all, is all you want really. A great 14 miler, but very probably a bit more, Mark couldn't be sure.
