A group of 17 left the lane by Plainsteads at 10.15am in fine weather (despite varying forecasts of inclement weather). We ascended Mill Hill in good visibility, paused for elevenes, then clambered up onto the edge of the Kinder plateau. Lunch was taken at an unusually quiet Kinder Downfall before proceeding to and crossing Red Brook, whereupon a slanting path below Kinder Low took us down finally over green fields to the lane leading to the toilets by the Bowden Bridge car park. A short final break was taken here.
Later approaching Middle Moor we veered west down to Little Hayfield, passing the long abandoned Park Hall outdoor pool. Although still just about fine, we gave the tempting inn a miss, and took on our final climb of the day slanting across below Lantern Pike. Gladly reaching flatter ground we followed farm lanes and over Matley Moor eventually reaching our cars at about 4.45pm, still to feel any rain at all. With the originally intended starting point of the car park at the Grouse pub not used (as the pub has sadly closed) we covered about 11 miles in total.
Thanks to all those who participated.
