Backdane Weekend 25 to 27/02/2022

Chris S. organised a self catering weekend at Backdane hostel (beasley backdane charitable trust) near Wincle and Danebridge. 21 members enjoyed an isolated modern hostel with great views and bird watching. This was probably the best hostel we have rented. NO wi-fi NO mobile phone signal so we did a lot of talking to each other.

Friday 25th we arrived from 4pm, some self catered and ate in. We brought our own wood for the 2 wood burners. Some did a night walk through forest to the Ship Inn at Wincle.

Saturday 26th Graham B. led the walk over the Roaches with some of our slower members peeling off at the various escape to return on shorter walks.

Saturday 26th night 19 of us ate at the Ship Inn with interesting torch light night walks along the Dane Valley Way.

On return to the hostel some did some singing and poetry.

Sunday morning cleaning and out of the Hostel 10.30am then drove to Rushton Spenser to do 2 different walks.

We had clear but cold windy sunny weather all weekend.

Walk Peover 06/02/2022

Adele B. led a walk around upper and lower Peover.

Adele Wrote:- 14 members out for Sundays eight mile walk around the Cheshire area of Peover. Everywhere was very wet and muddy under foot. The morning weather wasn't too bad, couple of short showers and a few sunny spells. The afternoon did turn wetter with a few heavier showers and  windy in exposed places. We were back at the cars by around 2.20pm, so luckily missed the worse of the afternoon rain !  Kept dry eating lunch, in a cow shed in the grounds of Peover Hall 😄
