Mankinholes YHA W/E 13 to 15/12/2019

Harvey and Helen B. organised a Christmas weekend away at Mankinholes YHA 13 to 15/12/2019.
Friday after the evening meal we all sat in the hostel lounge with the log burner and enjoyed Chris S'  home made wine, Jane M.s mince pies and mulled wine.
Saturday Harvey led a walk from the hostel towards Heptonstall then back over Stoodley pike in very cold very windy hail weather. Helen B. did mince pies and mulled wine then at 18.30 we all went to the Top Brink Pub for Xmas meal then after back to the hostel for drinks.
Sunday Harvey led a walk in cold snowy weather.

Steve W. 17/11/2019  led a walk around Rowarth  10 miles.

Steve Wrote :-The walk on Sunday led by Steve W. began at Rowarth village. 

Eleven members joined the 10 mile walk  towards New Mills and on towards Chinley Churn. We returned via  Hayfield and  a path East of Lantern Pike.

We finished with a well deserved  drink  at the Little Mill Inn at Rowarth.

Steve and Alison W. led a Thursday walk around Rowarth 7 miles.

Steve wrote:-
15 members braved cold, windy and very wet conditions. The 7-8 mile walk was over to Little Hayfield, up to Middle Moor, down to Hayfield. 

A well deserved cafe stop in Hayfield, gave us brief respite from the foul weather and chance to dry off a little before heading back via the Set Valley Trail and a path west of Lantern Pike.

Chris S. was ill so thanks to Graham B. and Jack M. for guiding the group around the planned route
 8.5 miles.

Walk Route 10:45 Biddulph Grange C.P. E. Visitor centre and W.C.   E. onto Staffordshire Moorland Walks, S. to Knypersley Reservoir, W. Greenaway C.P. W.C.   cafe, W. then N. on to old railway line (beware cyclists route 55) return 8.5miles. The route is on both Explorer 268 Wilmslow and Explorer 258 Stoke ordnance survey maps.

Walk Alderley Edge 27/10/2019

Jack M. led a walk from Riley Lane car park around Alderley, Nether Alderley and along the Edge. He had to modify the route several times due to flooding and some roads to and from the walk were closed. 19 members and a dog enjoyed a cool sunny day but was very wet and slippy under foot.
